In the Lowcountry we enjoy fall the same as our neighbors to the north. However, while we snuggle into sweaters in the morning and pull out the flannels in the evenings, by afternoon we’re again reaching for t-shirts and tank tops as temps make their way back into the 80s and 90s. But we like it that way.

While it might seem odd to be checking out pumpkin patches for that perfect jack-o-lantern in shorts, we do have plenty of fall festivals and Halloween fun and, of course, pumpkin spice everything. We just aren’t enjoying fall in chilly rain and heavy sweaters. Who says you can’t have pumpkin spiced lattes on the beach? You can do that here and still take in a ghost tour in Beaufort.

Get away from the chill of northern autumn and head south. We may not have turning leaves but we do have hay rides, pumpkin patches, fall veggies in our farmers’ markets and flannel is still optional.
